Peter is the Managing Director and Publisher of Big Splash Media, leading the company’s evolution from renowned travel publisher to marketing agency for travel and lifestyle brands. With a deep legacy in Australia’s cruise and travel media sector, Peter created the Traveller sections for Fairfax Media, Explore at ACM, AUSTRALIA for Austrade, Really Simple Money for the self-managed superannuation industry, and The River Cruise Collective for the river cruising industry.

He founded Big Splash Media in 2008, building one of the country’s most influential travel publishing platforms — combining journalism, audience development, and commercial performance.

Under his leadership, Big Splash Media has grown into a powerful ecosystem of owned brands and channels including high-performing travel websites, social and video platforms, and the iconic magazine Cruise&Travel. Peter’s approach is distinctive: he understands that modern travel marketing needs both credibility and conversion. That’s why Big Splash now operates as both marketer and influencer, offering brands access to ready-made audiences while also delivering strategic campaign thinking, creative production and measurable outcomes.

Peter has been instrumental in developing Big Splash Media’s newest breakthrough product, The Sydney Travel Guide, launched from scratch and now ranked as the #1 guide for tourists visiting Sydney, attracting high-intent travellers and proving Big Splash’s ability to create demand at scale.

Peter leads strategy, partnerships and expansion, ensuring the business stays ahead of shifts in consumer behaviour, content discovery and performance marketing. His focus is on building an integrated marketing engine where editorial authority, first-party data, and full-funnel marketing work together to drive results for clients.

Bernadette Chua

Bernadette is Chief Operating Officer and Content Director at Big Splash Media, responsible for the company’s operational excellence and content leadership across all platforms. With a reputation for combining editorial rigour with commercial outcomes, Bernadette plays a central role in Big Splash’s repositioning as a marketing and content studio for travel brands.

She leads the company’s multi-format content capability — spanning premium editorial, digital publishing, social, video, newsletters and print — ensuring every piece of storytelling is not only engaging but strategically aligned to the customer journey. Bernadette’s strength lies in turning content into a performance asset: building structures that connect inspiration to action and delivering campaigns that generate measurable results across awareness, consideration and conversion.

As COO, she also ensures Big Splash operates like a modern marketing studio, bringing together editorial teams, commercial delivery, marketing operations and production workflows. Her leadership supports the agency’s commitment to consistent brand quality, faster campaign execution and stronger reporting across every channel — key pillars in Big Splash’s growth strategy.

She has been with the company for 15 years. Before joining Big Splash, she worked for some of Australia’s leading media companies.

Bernadette is instrumental in guiding Big Splash’s strategic expansion beyond cruise into broader travel and adjacent categories, ensuring the company speaks to destinations, touring operators, airlines and premium travel experiences with clarity and credibility. She also helps shape the future-forward evolution of Big Splash content — from audience segmentation and database strategy to more search-optimised and AI-discoverable formats — enabling brands to stay visible as consumer journeys become increasingly fragmented.

Teresa is Executive Editor and heads up administration at Big Splash Media, bringing structure, precision and editorial leadership to one of Australia’s most influential travel media and marketing businesses. In her dual role, Teresa ensures Big Splash Media runs smoothly operationally while maintaining the quality, consistency and credibility that has made the company a trusted voice in travel publishing.

As Executive Editor, Teresa helps steer content strategy and editorial standards across Big Splash’s growing portfolio, from high-performing digital platforms to print publications and brand-led content programs.

Teresa plays a critical role in keeping the business agile and accountable, managing internal processes, ensuring compliance.

Teresa has led teams at some of the world’s best known business titles, including The Financial Times in London and The Australian in Sydney.

Ross Kidd

Ross is Head of Revenue at Big Splash Media, responsible for driving growth across brand partnerships, commercial strategy, and integrated client solutions. With more than two decades of experience across digital publishing, agency, media and commercial leadership, Ross brings a rare combination of relationship-driven sales expertise and modern marketing services capability.

Ross has built his career leading high-performing teams and consistently over-achieving revenue targets. He has held senior commercial roles at News Corp Australia, Nova Entertainment, and Pinstripe Media, where he led agency sales and major direct client partnerships across TV, digital, social, podcasts, video, written content and events.

He also has agency-side experience as Senior Business Development Manager at Holler Australia, a full-service digital agency spanning strategy, creative, social, customer experience and data science — giving him a strong understanding of how marketers think and what they need from partners today.

Ross is instrumental in positioning Big Splash Media as a full-funnel marketing studio rather than just a publisher. He works closely with the team to develop packaged, buyer-friendly solutions that combine Big Splash’s owned audiences, premium content capabilities and performance reporting into integrated campaigns designed to drive awareness, consideration and conversion.
